Is the POU ‘EXPIRED’ status a final status?

No, the ‘EXPIRED’ POU status indicates that the POU documentation related to a specific trademark record was not revalidated in time as an update on the POU documentation is required once every five years for each Sunrise eligible trademark record in the Trademark Clearinghouse.

A Trademark Holder or Trademark Agent can revalidate/invalidate the trademark records with an ‘EXPIRED’ POU status on the bulk POU revalidation page in our TMCH web interface. You can access this page by navigating to your TMCH account and clicking on the button 'bulk validate POU' at the bottom right of the 'Mark overview' page. After revalidation of the POU documentation, a new SMD file is generated.
